Hampton-in-Arden
Umbrella English is located in the traditional village of Hampton-in-Arden, 15 minutes south of Birmingham, in the Midlands of England. If you choose this location, your lessons will take place in the spacious and peaceful environment of our home, but also in and around the village with its cosy pubs, cafe, and park. As part of your stay and learning, we can visit further afield, to other towns and villages.
Where is it?:
10 minutes by train or car from Birmingham airport
15 minutes by train from the city of Birmingham
2 hours direct train connection from London
Hotels and B&Bs: The White Lion (2 minutes walk) and Hampton Manor (also 2 minutes walk)
Other options in the local towns 10 minutes away, or Birmingham city centre (15 minutes by train).

The City of Birmingham
Another option is to stay in the city of Birmingham and take your lessons there. I live 15 minutes away by train, and I will be your teacher and guide to the city during your language visit. Enjoy taking in the language and culture as we combine learning, museums, cafes and shops, as you wish. Learning on the move is highly effective.
Birmingham is England's second biggest city, home to the Peaky Blinders, more canals than Venice, and some of the best Indian restaurants in the country. The city is also home to the NEC (National Exhibition Centre), Symphony Hall and the Birmingham Royal Ballet. And several football teams, including Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
Birmingham is where I grew up, and its people are friendly, humble and humorous. It has its own Bullring and mascot: Ozzy the Bull, named after the late Brummie rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.

Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare, is located 30 minutes away and is worth a visit or a longer stay while you are here. A beautiful and lively small town on the river Avon, with Tudor buildings, and of course home to the famous Royal Shakespeare Theatres. It is also famous for its swan population. One of the famous theatres is called The Swan Theatre. If you prefer to locate yourself at a hotel or B&B in Stratford, this can be arranged.

Other locations for your language visit

London
Theatres, museums, shopping, markets, you name it. London is buzzing with life and creativity, and is an ever-evolving city. I lived in London in the past and would be happy to meet you there for your language visit.

Bristol
A creative hub, surrounded by green hills, with a maritime past. Bristol is a lively city with a young and innovative scene. There are multiple flights to Bristol.

Manchester
The third largest city in England, 2 hours north of Birmingham and with many flight options. Manchester is the powerhouse of the north, famous for Indie music bands like Oasis, The Smiths and New Order, and a modern and thriving city.
